About
Duda Beat named herself after the manguebeat countercultural movement from her hometown of Recife, and that northeastern Brazilian spirit runs through everything she makes. Her 2018 debut album Sinto Muito landed on Rolling Stone Brasil's list of the best 50 Brazilian records of the year, earning her the ACPA Award for Breakthrough Artist and announcing her as one of the more exciting voices in new MPB. She blends Brazilian pop sensibility with a distinctly contemporary edge, and her work has kept building since then. A collaborative album with Nando Reis earned her a 2021 Latin Grammy nomination for Best Brazilian Contemporary Pop Album, and her album Tara & Tal was picked by the São Paulo Art Critics Association as one of the 50 best albums of 2024. Her husband Tomás Tróia produces her records and plays in her live band, making it a genuine creative partnership.
