About
Duo Vimári brings together violinist Klara Mikuž and marimbist Christophe Pütz, both born in 2004 and studying at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. The pairing is an unusual one: the warm, resonant body of the marimba alongside the lyrical expressiveness of the violin. To push things further, the duo incorporates electronic sound tapes into their performances, opening up layers of texture and interaction that go well beyond the standard chamber music setup. Their repertoire stretches across a fair amount of ground, from works by Steven Snowden and Lyle Mays to their own arrangements of pieces by Franz Liszt and Béla Bartók. They have also performed a newly commissioned work by Munich based composer Yann Windeshausen, born in 2002, showing a clear interest in connecting contemporary voices with the classical tradition.
