Dustin O'Halloran has a habit of showing up in unexpected places: his piano pieces have scored Sofia Coppola films, earned him a Primetime Emmy for his Transparent theme, and landed him an Oscar nomination for the Lion soundtrack he co wrote with Hauschka. Based out of Phoenix originally, he works across solo piano records, film and TV scoring, and the ambient project A Winged Victory for the Sullen, his long running partnership with Adam Wiltzie. That duo has put out four studio albums together and even performed at the BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall. His solo record Lumiere featured contributions from Peter Broderick and was mixed by Jóhann Jóhannsson, giving it a sound that sits somewhere between modern classical and something more quietly cinematic. In 2019 he signed with Deutsche Grammophon, releasing the Sundoor EP built around a sprawling 20 minute piece originally composed for a site specific art installation in Venice. His collaboration with Volker Bertelmann has become one of the more fruitful partnerships in contemporary film scoring, spanning titles from Ammonite to The Old Guard.
