About
Dyane Donck blends music and theatre into a single form, weaving together live performance and film to tell stories that get under your skin. Her work S.A.M. (Stop Annoying Me) follows a character named Sam who becomes trapped inside her own thoughts. The piece runs on two tracks at once: a younger Sam appears on screen while an adult version reflects back on that experience and sings live. For more intimate settings, Donck strips the production down to cello, violin and voice, which gives the work a raw, close up quality that a full staging cannot replicate. Based in Rotterdam, she creates original music theatre that sits at the crossroads of several disciplines.
