About
EARTHGANG are an Atlanta duo, Olu (Johnny Venus) and WowGr8 (Doctur Dot), who have been bending what hip hop can sound like since they formed in 2008. Their early work drew comparisons to the earthy, soulful vibes of mid 90s Dungeon Family, and Noisey praised their 2013 debut album Shallow Graves For Toys for its "playful delivery and biting lyricism." That record came out on their own Spillage Village imprint, the collective they co founded alongside JID, 6lack, and a handful of other Atlanta talents. Signing to J. Cole's Dreamville Records in 2017 was a turning point. They rolled out a three part EP trilogy, Rags, Robots, and Royalty, before dropping their major label debut Mirrorland in 2019. Along the way they toured with Ab Soul and Bas, featured on Mac Miller's GO:OD AM tour, and built a reputation as one of the most creatively restless acts coming out of Atlanta's hip hop scene.
