About
Eduard Preda is a Dutch pianist, composer and improviser who leads his trio alongside double bass and drums. Still in his mid twenties, he earned a nomination for the Grachtenfestival Prize, a recognition that signals serious attention from the Dutch jazz world. His musical approach sits at the crossroads of jazz and classical music, drawing on the Great American Songbook as a starting point and then opening it up through spontaneous improvisation. Standards get recast with new harmonic colours, and classical interludes weave naturally into the set. The result shifts between swinging and playful on one hand, and virtuosic and lyrical on the other, always leaving room for the unexpected.
