About
Frank Zappa is the name Elio drops when asked about his biggest influence, which tells you a lot about what to expect from Elio e le Storie Tese, the Italian rock band he founded in 1980. As lead vocalist, he brings a humorous and irreverent edge to the lyrics, and when he's not singing he picks up the transverse flute, electric guitar or bass. The flute isn't just a quirky prop either: he holds a degree in it from the Milan Conservatory. Outside the band, Elio has made a real mark on Italian TV. He served as a judge on the Italian X Factor for five seasons, and mentored two winning acts along the way. He later turned up on Italia's Got Talent in 2022, proving he's just as comfortable in front of a panel as he is on a stage.
