About
Ensemble VIJF! is an all female classical chamber group whose instrumentation sets them apart: harp, flute, oboe, bassoon and violin form the core of their sound. Their programmes tend to gather around a theme, weaving together repertoire from different eras into a coherent evening. A Christmas programme gives a good sense of their approach, pairing Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite with works by Gustav Holst and a selection of well known carol arrangements. The combination of those five instruments gives familiar music an unusually warm and intimate colour.
