About
Eric Ineke has spent well over half a century behind the kit in Dutch jazz, and the guest list on his CVs reads like a hard bop hall of fame: Dexter Gordon, Hank Mobley, Johnny Griffin, Barry Harris, Dizzy Gillespie, Ben Webster, Chet Baker and plenty more. He cut his first record in 1969 with tenor saxophonist Ferdinand Povel, and for more than 40 years he has been the drummer in the Rein de Graaff Trio. Since 2006 he has led his own quintet, the Eric Ineke JazzXpress, a band firmly in the hard bop tradition. Their records include tribute albums to Dexter Gordon (Dexternity), Charlie Parker (What Kinda Bird Is This?) and Cannonball Adderley, with several Edison Award nominations along the way. He has also written a book, The Ultimate Sideman, in conversation with Dave Liebman, teaches at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, and was made a Knight in the Order of Orange Nassau for his dedication to the Dutch jazz scene.
