Erika de Casier makes R&B and experimental pop that sounds like it was excavated from a very specific late 90s and early 2000s time capsule, blending G funk, bossa nova, trip hop and breakbeat into something entirely her own. She started out as half of the Copenhagen R&B duo Saint Cava before going independent and releasing her debut album Essentials in 2019, which landed on year end lists at Vice, Crack Magazine and Gorilla vs. Bear. Signing to 4AD in 2020 gave her a bigger platform, and Sensational followed in 2021 to widespread critical praise, charting in the UK and earning spots on best of lists at The Guardian and Pitchfork. She also co wrote NewJeans hits "Super Shy" and "Cool With You" from their EP Get Up, which turned out to be some of the most talked about K pop songs of 2023. Her third album Still arrived in 2024, and her fourth, Lifetime, dropped as a surprise in 2025.
