About
Etta Marcus got booted out of her jazz course at Trinity Laban in her first year, and it turned out to be the push she needed to go all in on her own songs. Her debut single "Hide & Seek" arrived in October 2021 and quickly built a cult following, and a collaboration with Matt Maltese, "Salt Lake City", followed. Both landed on her first EP, View from the Bridge. After signing to Polydor, she swapped the dreamy, ethereal feel of those early tracks for something sharper. "Crown", built around a distinctive electric guitar riff, led her second EP, Heart Shaped Bruise, where Radiohead and The Strokes crept into the mix. She opened for Lana Del Rey in London in 2023, and her debut album, The Death of Summer and Other Promises, followed in January 2024, with another EP, Devour, in 2025. Critics often reach for Lana Del Rey, Mazzy Star and Fiona Apple when describing her.
