About
Fadango blends Portuguese fado with Argentinian nuevo tango and other Latin styles, creating something that sits comfortably in no single tradition. At the centre of it all is vocalist Jeannine Flores, who brings real passion to songs about the highs and lows of life, evoking the tango salons of Buenos Aires as much as the taverns of Lisbon. She is backed by a tight four piece lineup: Mirek Walton on guitar, Gerard van Duinen on bandoneon, and Suze Stiphout on double bass. The group draws on composers and artists including Astor Piazzolla, Amália Rodrigues, Mariza, Cristina Branco, Madredeus, Barbara Pravi and Blöf, weaving those influences into performances that move between raw emotion and rhythmic energy.
