About
Fado, Feminina is a trio built around vocalist Madelon Ravenhorst, bayan player Oleg Fateev, and guitarist Hans van Gelderen. Together they explore the feminine voice within Portuguese fado, weaving in musical pieces from other languages alongside it. The repertoire moves through jealousy, motherhood, loss, hope, and self discovery, shifting in mood between quiet melancholy and full blooded joy. Poetic introductions and atmospheric projected visuals deepen the experience further. The combination of voice, bayan, and guitar keeps plenty of room for nuance and improvisation, letting the emotional weight of the texts breathe.
