About
FADOpelos2 is a fado band with an unlikely home base: singer Iris Feijen comes from West Friesland, and she fronts a four piece that brings the genre to Dutch audiences without needing a plane ticket to Portugal. Their angle is the sunnier side of fado. Yes, it's the music of longing and heartache, but they lean into the poetic, rhythmic and lively parts too. The set mixes well known fado classics with a good share of their own songs, which they aim to keep fresh, recognisable and contemporary. Between numbers, Iris tells stories that wander from the back alleys of Lisbon to her own roots in Schagen, so the evening feels part concert, part conversation.
