About
Also known as: Fantasia
Fairyland started life in 1998 as Fantasia, the brainchild of keyboardist Philippe Giordana and Willdric Lievin, two friends hooked on epic, symphonic heavy metal. After a couple of demos they landed Elisa C. Martin, known from Spanish power metal band Dark Moor, on vocals for the debut Of Wars in Osyrhia in 2003. That record got them on the road with Sonata Arctica and onto the Sweden Rock Festival stage. The story gets messier from there. Line up changes piled up, The Fall of an Empire came out on Napalm Records in 2006, and a European tour with Kamelot and Leaves' Eyes followed. Then Giordana, the sole composer, went solo under the Fairyland name for Score to a New Beginning, using guest musicians. In 2015 the band came back as a full unit with Lievin on board again, and Osyrhianta, a prequel concept album, arrived in 2020. Giordana died in 2022, but the band carried on with Archie Caine on vocals and released The Story Remains in 2025.
