Fazil Say occupies a distinctive space between Turkish musical tradition and the Western classical canon, and his work as both a composer and pianist reflects that dual pull. With the Mozarteumorchester he performs his own compositions alongside Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 23, showing how naturally he moves between interpreting the great classical repertoire and presenting his own voice. Haydn, Mozart and Schubert are composers he genuinely loves, and that affinity comes through in how he programmes concerts that mix their symphonic works with his own pieces.
