About
Filomena Moretti is an Italian classical guitarist who piled up competition wins through the late 80s and 90s, including first prizes in Stresa, Alessandria and Cagliari, before turning into a regular on European concert stages. She trained at the Sassari Conservatory, then worked with Ruggero Chiesa and Oscar Ghiglia, and sat in on master classes with names like Julian Bream, David Russell and Manuel Barrueco. On record, her complete solo guitar works of Joaquin Rodrigo for Stradivarius landed her on the front page of the Italian magazine Classica. Her Fernando Sor recording won the Golden Guitar in 1998, and she later cut two volumes of Bach's lute works transcribed for guitar. She has played with orchestras, tackled the major guitar concertos, toured Italy with castanet legend Lucero Tena, and appeared in venues from Milan's Verdi Conservatoire to the Chopin Foundation in Warsaw and festivals across France.
