Flawed Mangoes blew up almost by accident. Evan Lo, a Rochester trained audio engineer, had been quietly putting out lo fi and instrumental hip hop under the name Fla.mingo with little to show for it, until his Flawed Mangoes project caught fire on TikTok in 2023. The sound turned out to be a perfect fit for "hopecore" videos, and the single Killswitch Lullaby became the breakout moment. From there things moved fast: Lo signed to APG Music in April 2024 and dropped the EP The Unwavering Hand that September. His output covers a lot of ground, mixing boom bap sensibility with chillwave textures and a distinctly downtempo mood. The discography has been building steadily, with the Anomaly series arriving in 2025 and further releases following into 2026. It is the kind of music that sounds deceptively simple but sticks around long after the video ends.
