About
Also known as: 4 Tet, 4Tet, Four-Tet, Fourtet
Kieran Hebden has been releasing music as Four Tet since the late 1990s, and over that time he has carved out a genuinely distinctive corner of electronic music, one that pulls from folk textures, jazz samples, hip hop rhythms, and club energy all at once. His 2001 album Pause helped coin the term "folktronica", and the records that followed, particularly Rounds in 2003 and There Is Love in You in 2010, are the kind of albums that turn people into devoted fans. He also co wrote the end credits song for the James Bond film Quantum of Solace with composer David Arnold. Beyond his own albums, Hebden is a prolific collaborator. He has worked repeatedly with the elusive Burial, released two improvised albums with jazz drummer Steve Reid, and arranged the 2021 Madlib album Sound Ancestors. His remix CV is equally impressive, covering everyone from Aphex Twin and Radiohead to Thom Yorke and Madvillain. In 2025 he dropped "Into Dust (Still Falling)", showing no signs of slowing down.
