Frank Cools is a Flemish actor and singer from Izegem, Belgium, who has performed in nearly every theatre across Flanders and the Netherlands. His repertoire spans chanson and smartlap, and he has regularly taken the stage solo with classical texts as well as in productions for younger audiences. What sets him apart is a knack for stripping things back to their bare essence, achieving a lot with very little. Alongside guitarist Florian De Schepper, Cools has built a theatre concert format around the work of French chansonniers. Their show dedicated to Charles Aznavour drew warm praise from Het Nieuwsblad, which called the singing virtuosic and the stories both moving and funny. The pair followed that up with a programme centred on Gilbert Bécaud, presenting his songs for two voices with just a single guitar.
