Gary, Indiana's Freddie Gibbs has built one of the most respected catalogs in modern rap by pairing a relentless, street level flow with some seriously adventurous production choices. His two collaborative albums with Madlib, Piñata and Bandana, are widely treated as modern classics, and Alfredo, made with The Alchemist, earned a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Album. That project also features Benny the Butcher and Rick Ross, which gives you a sense of the company he keeps. His solo work holds up just as well. After years of acclaimed mixtapes and indie releases, he signed with Warner Records and put out Soul Sold Separately in 2022, which cracked the top 15 of the Billboard 200. His uncredited appearance on a Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign track in 2024 gave him his first Billboard Hot 100 entry. Recent videos featuring Jadakiss and ScHoolboy Q show he has no interest in slowing down.
