About
Freek Bartels is a Dutch singer, musical actor and presenter from Tilburg who built his name on stage before becoming a familiar face on Dutch television. He landed his first major break by winning the TV talent show Op zoek naar Joseph in 2008, which handed him the lead role in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, a run that lasted until 2010. Along the way he picked up a John Kraaijkamp Musical Award for his early work in Into the Woods and Les Misérables, and earned further nominations for his performances in Petticoat and Joseph. His range extends well beyond musicals: he played Gabe in Next to Normal opposite Simone Kleinsma, took on the role of Jesus in The Passion 2021, and returned to Les Misérables in 2023 as Javert. On television he has competed in Wie is de Mol, presented Fort Boyard alongside Lauren Verster, and appeared as a panelist and jury member on several Dutch shows.
