About
Frysk Fanfare Kollektyf grew out of the Frysk Fanfare Orkest and has built a reputation around a warm, full sound paired with an appetite for adventurous projects. Under the direction of Jaap Musschenga, the ensemble pushes at the edges of what a fanfare orchestra can do, blending traditional brass and wind writing with fresher, more experimental ideas. Their programmes tend to feel genuinely ambitious rather than just polished, which is what makes a collaboration pairing them with a percussion ensemble feel like such a natural fit: the two worlds, fanfare and slagwerk, end up merging into something that is bigger than either on its own.
