About
Also known as: G3 Live, The G3 Jam
Joe Satriani's brainchild since 1995, G3 is a touring guitar showcase that brings together three elite guitarists for a night of seriously high level six string playing. Satriani anchors every lineup, and over the years he has shared the stage with an extraordinary roster that includes Steve Vai, Eric Johnson, John Petrucci, Yngwie Malmsteen, Paul Gilbert, Robert Fripp, Brian May and Billy Gibbons, among many others. Steve Vai holds the record for most appearances at thirteen tours, while Petrucci has joined eight times. The format is simple but effective: each guitarist plays their own set, then they all come together for a jam that tends to be the highlight of the night. G3 has hit North America, Europe, Japan, Australia, South America and Asia over the decades. The 2024 US run brought back the original 1996 trio of Satriani, Vai and Eric Johnson, and that reunion was captured on the live album Reunion Live.
