About
Also known as: Gab Aplin
Gabrielle Aplin first caught people's attention by posting acoustic covers on YouTube, but it was her cover of Frankie Goes to Hollywood's 'The Power of Love' for a John Lewis Christmas ad that sent her to number one on the UK Singles Chart in 2012. That kind of breakthrough could easily pigeonhole an artist, but Aplin has spent the years since proving she's far more than a viral moment. Her debut album English Rain went Gold in the UK and charted at number two, spinning off singles like 'Please Don't Say You Love Me', 'Panic Cord' and 'Salvation'. She runs her own label, Never Fade Records, which she used to sign acts like Hannah Grace and Saint Raymond before eventually leaving Parlophone in 2017 to release her own music through it independently. Since then she's put out the album Dear Happy in 2020 and her fourth record Phosphorescent in January 2023, showing no signs of slowing down her folk and indie folk output.
