Roman rapper Gemitaiz, born Davide De Luca, built his name in the Italian hip hop scene through sharp, uncompromising work that resonated well beyond his home city. Before going solo, he spent years as part of the Xtreme Team, a Rome based rapper collective, putting out a string of mixtapes between 2006 and 2011. His debut solo album, L'unico compromesso (The Only Compromise), dropped in May 2013 and climbed all the way to number three on the Italian charts, a strong opening statement for any solo career. His most consistent creative partnership has been with fellow Italian rapper MadMan, with whom he has collaborated extensively. That chemistry clearly clicks with listeners, and it has helped cement Gemitaiz as one of the more recognisable voices in Italian rap.
