About
Also known as: Hephzibah, Jyoti, Pattie Blingh
Georgia Anne Muldrow is one of those artists who can't sit still in one lane, and her catalogue shows it. Since her 2006 debut EP Worthnothings and first album Olesi: Fragments of an Earth, both on Stones Throw, she has put out a mountain of records under her own name and a few alter egos, including Jyoti and Pattie Blingh and the Akebulan Five. She also co founded the SomeOthaShip Connect label in 2008 with Dudley Perkins, her frequent collaborator. The highlights are all over the map. Seeds (2012) was produced entirely by Madlib, Overload came out on Brainfeeder in 2018, and she has teamed up with Dudley Perkins and Elzhi on full projects. Her guest list is just as wide, from Erykah Badu and Mos Def to Blood Orange and the Kronos Quartet. Mos Def once compared her to Roberta Flack, Nina Simone and Ella Fitzgerald, and AllMusic called her one of the most daring and important, if underappreciated, artists of her time.
