Georgina Verbaan is probably best known to Dutch audiences for her years on the soap opera Goede tijden, slechte tijden, where she played Hedwig Harmsen from 1997 to 2000, but she has never stayed in one lane for long. Her 2002 debut album Sugar Spider produced a string of radio hits, including a cover of Blondie's "Denis" and the dancey "Yo quiero bailar", showing a pop instinct that sat alongside her screen work. The film Costa! pulled in over 200,000 viewers and she sang its theme song, while her 2009 appearance in Cyrus Frisch's avant garde film Oogverblindend earned serious critical praise, with Dutch press calling it the most relevant Dutch film of that year. Off screen she is an outspoken vegetarian and anti fur activist who campaigned for the Party for the Animals and appeared on their election list in both 2006 and 2016. She picked up a Beeld en Geluid Award for best actress for her work in the series 't Schaep Met De 5 Pooten, and a nomination for the same prize for a standout episode of crime series Van God Los. In 2023 she took a lead role in the film Klem, and in 2025 she turned up in The Masked Singer.
