Gesaffelstein, the alias of Lyon born producer Mike Lévy, has built a reputation around some of the darkest, most hypnotic techno to come out of France. Often tagged the "Dark Prince of Techno", his sound draws on industrial dance acts like D.A.F. and Nitzer Ebb, Kraftwerk, and the dense, obsessive structures of Drexciya, filtered through a sensibility that weaponises silence as much as bass and percussion. His 2013 debut album Aleph set the tone, and he co produced tracks on Kanye West's Yeezus the same year, including "Black Skinhead". His second album Hyperion brought the massive collab with the Weeknd, "Lost in the Fire". Third album Gamma arrived in 2024, and in 2025 his remix of Lady Gaga's "Abracadabra" earned him the Grammy for Best Remixed Recording, an award he accepted on stage wearing black gloves and his signature reflective mask, saying nothing.
