About
Get Scared built their reputation in the US post hardcore scene out of Layton, Utah, blending emo and metalcore into a sound that shifted noticeably across their four albums. Their 2011 debut Best Kind of Mess came out through Universal Motown Records and featured a collab with Escape the Fate's Craig Mabbit on a reworked version of 'Sarcasm'. Signing to Fearless Records in 2013, they put out Everyone's Out to Get Me and also covered Lit's 'My Own Worst Enemy' for the Punk Goes 90s Vol. 2 compilation. By the time Demons dropped in 2015, the band had leaned further into metalcore territory, a clear step away from their earlier post hardcore sound. Their fourth album, The Dead Days, came out in 2019 and was effectively their swan song, with vocalist Nicholas Matthews later confirming the band had broken up. A 2022 reunion was announced but stalled, though as of 2025 the band has reportedly been writing new music.
