Get the Blessing are a Bristol based jazz rock quartet whose rhythm section has serious pedigree: bassist Jim Barr and drummer Clive Deamer both played with Portishead, and Deamer has also sat behind the kit for Radiohead, Jeff Beck, and Robert Plant's Strange Sensation, among others. The band came together in 1999 when the two of them linked up with saxophonist Jake McMurchie and trumpeter Pete Judge over a shared love of Ornette Coleman. Mostly instrumental, their sound blends jazz and rock into something The Guardian once called 'horn laments and full on free thrashes', while The Times clocked their live shows as technically audacious and more than a little mysterious. Their album All Is Yes took best album at the 2008 BBC Jazz Awards, and they have kept at it steadily since, releasing Bristopia in 2018, Rarer Teas in 2020, and Pallett in 2023.
