His 2016 album Landlord, released independently on his own SN1 Records, debuted at number two on the UK Albums Chart and earned a silver certification from the BPI, making it the peak of his chart career. The singles around it, including Whippin Excursion and the platinum certified Lock Doh, cemented his status as a heavyweight in the scene. His profile got a serious international boost in 2017 when Drake featured him on two tracks from More Life, with KMT reaching number nine on the UK Singles Chart and going platinum. That same year his mixtape Wamp 2 Dem also debuted at number two despite being offered as a free download, a testament to how devoted his fanbase is. Though people often label him grime, Giggs is firm that his sound belongs under the UK rap umbrella, not grime, and his catalogue makes a convincing case for that distinction.
