Few R&B songs from the 1990s have stuck around quite like "Pony", the debut single that put Ginuwine on the map in 1996. Produced by Timbaland, it hit number six on the Billboard Hot 100 and launched an album that went double platinum. That early partnership with Timbaland defined his sleek, slow burn sound, and the two stayed close through his second album, 100% Ginuwine, before eventually going their separate ways creatively. His highest charting moment actually came later, with "Differences" from The Life, which peaked at number four on the Hot 100 and hit the top spot on the R&B chart. He kept delivering through the 2000s, with "In Those Jeans" cracking the top ten and Back II Da Basics going gold. He has also been part of TGT, the R&B trio he formed with Tyrese Gibson and Tank, and by 2013 Billboard estimated his US album sales at nearly seven million copies.
