About
GMS, short for the Growling Mad Scientists, built one of psychedelic trance's most devoted global followings out of Amsterdam's late 1990s scene. The duo, made up of Riktam and Bansi, put out a string of albums through their own Spun Records, which they founded in 1999 as the first psychedelic trance label operating in the United States and Ibiza. Their reach went well beyond club floors: director Tony Scott pulled GMS tracks for three of his films, Man on Fire, Domino, and Unstoppable. They won the Psy Trance award at the DJ Awards in Ibiza twice, in 2001 and 2009, and shifted over 350,000 copies worldwide. After leaving Spun Records in 2008, Riktam continued the project under the Starbox Music label, releasing The G.M.S. Experiment in 2021. Bansi, sadly, passed away in 2018.
