About
GraafLandgraaf is a Dutch group that carves out its own corner somewhere between alternative rock, Dutch language indie, and postpunk. Their lyrics are both personal and politically charged, and live they trade in raw energy and a kind of blunt musical directness that doesn't leave much room for indifference. Their album 'Ethical Necessity of Violence' frames itself as a musical argument against the political climate, drawing on multilingual, socially critical lyrics, what the band calls polyphonic panic attacks, and absurdist saxophone solos. The overall effect is something like a manifesto: a vision of an ideal society built on eclectic influences, love, and noise, with the dissenting voice always turned up to full volume.
