About
Also known as: Curan Stone, Green Verlet
Curtis Jones, the Chicago DJ and producer behind the Green Velvet name, has been shaping house and techno since the early nineties, and his fingerprints are all over the sound. His 1992 track "Percolator" landed on Rolling Stone's list of the 20 best Chicago house records, and his 1995 single "Flash" hit number one on the Billboard Dance Club Songs chart while earning a spot on Mixmag's best US rave anthems of the decade. He also runs two labels, Cajual Records and Relief Records, which he founded in 1992 and 1993 respectively. Beyond the Green Velvet alias, he records as Cajmere and several other monikers, giving him a remarkably wide range across Chicago house, techno and tech house. DJ Mag has called him "a stalwart figure in both house and techno", and his catalogue backs that up. In 2015 he released Unity, a collaborative album with Carl Craig, and his ongoing Get Real project with Claude VonStroke keeps delivering floor focused material.
