About
Sydney based Filipino Australian singer and songwriter grentperez built his following the slow way, putting guitar covers and originals on YouTube before anyone was paying attention. His breakthrough came with the 2021 single Cherry Wine, which earned a gold certification from ARIA and introduced his warm, soulful sound to a much wider audience. He records for Fast Friends and has kept a steady pace since then, dropping the EPs Conversations with the Moon and Trail Mix Tape in 2022, followed by When We Were Younger in 2023, a seven track song cycle that leans into nostalgia in a way that feels personal rather than precious. He also teamed up with Lime Cordiale on Op Shop Lover and collaborated with Lyn Lapid on Room For You. His debut studio album Backflips in a Restaurant arrived in March 2025, and he contributed a cover of But Not for Me to the tribute album Chet Baker Re:imagined.
