Gridlink are best known to a lot of people for a very odd reason: their song "Orphan" was used as an interrogation technique in an episode of the Showtime series Homeland. That's a fitting fate for a band that plays grindcore at full tilt. The group formed in Hoboken, New Jersey in 2004, with Jon Chang on vocals, also known for Discordance Axis, alongside guitarist Takafumi Matsubara, who plays in Mortalized and Hayaino Daisuki. Their run of albums starts with Amber Grey in 2008 on Hydra Head Records, followed by Orphan in 2011 on the same label and Longhena in 2014 through Handshake, Inc. After a long gap came Coronet Juniper in 2023, released on Willowtip Records. Drummer Bryan Fajardo, bassist Mauro Cordoba and guitarist Rory Kobzina round out the lineup. If you like your grindcore, powerviolence and mathcore fast and relentless, this is the band to check out.
