The Groot Omroepkoor is the only professional choir in the Netherlands that specialises in the large choral symphonic repertoire. Based in Hilversum, the choir covers an impressive range, from grand orchestral collaborations to intimate a cappella programmes. Their long standing partnership with the Radio Filharmonisch Orkest sits at the heart of their work, and the two ensembles are so tightly attuned to each other that it shows in every shared performance. Repertoire wise, the choir moves confidently across classical and operatic territory, taking on everything from Rossini's Stabat mater to late romantic choral works by Brahms, Wolf and Schönberg, through to twentieth century pieces like Alfred Schnittke's Concert for choir, considered one of the great choral masterworks of that era. Dutch and world premieres also feature in their programming, which gives the choir a reputation for bringing genuinely challenging and varied work to concert audiences.
