About
HACKEDEPICIOTTO is the married duo of Alexander Hacke and Danielle de Picciotto, two long time fixtures of the Berlin underground. Hacke is a founding member and bass player of Einstürzende Neubauten. De Picciotto moved to Berlin in 1987, fronted the band Space Cowboys, helped start the Love Parade and worked with Gudrun Gut at the Ocean Club. They married in 2006 and have spent close to two decades collaborating on outside projects while releasing their own music. Their sound is dark, acoustic and strangely beautiful. Think desert drones, slow heavy riffs that swell from a whisper into something close to apocalyptic, and very low bass underneath it all, with electronics and delicate harmonies threaded through. De Picciotto plays hurdy gurdy, autoharp, cimbalom, violin and piano, and writes most of the lyrics, from spoken word to choir parts. Hacke handles bass, guitar and drums, and growls and throat sings over the top. Live, it hits hard.
