About
Also known as: Haematom, HÄMATOM
Hämatom are a German metal band from Speichersdorf in Franconia, and their whole identity is built around a striking visual and musical concept: each member takes the name of a cardinal direction and performs behind an intricately designed mask. Their sound sits in the neue deutsche härte and medieval metal space, and their German lyrics have shifted over the years from European fables and nursery rhyme imagery toward sharper takes on society, religion and politics. The album Wir sind Gott cracked the German charts at No. 5 and also charted in Austria and Switzerland, marking a real step up in reach. Beyond records, Hämatom are known for their intense live shows and for running their own festivals, including the winter gathering Dämonentanz. They have shared stages with Rammstein, Nightwish and Manowar, among others. In 2023 the band lost bassist Peter "West" Haag, and rather than replace him, they welcomed guitarist Annika "Rose" Jaschke in 2024 while keeping West listed as a permanent member. A recent upload features a guitar solo contribution from Alligatoah, suggesting the band is still very much active.
