About
German bass baritone Hanno Müller Brachmann has built a career that spans Mozart operas, Bach cantatas, and major symphonic works, all with some of the most respected conductors in classical music. His thirteen years at the Berlin State Opera, where Daniel Barenboim brought him in, saw him tackle roles from Papageno and Figaro to Escamillo, and he even created the role of Mephistopheles in Pascal Dusapin's opera Faustus, the Last Night. On record, his Papageno in Die Zauberflöte with Claudio Abbado won a Gramophone Award, and his discography stretches across Mahler, Brahms, Beethoven and Bach with conductors like Riccardo Chailly, Pierre Boulez and Philippe Herreweghe. Beyond performing, he has taught voice at conservatories in Berlin and Karlsruhe and has served on juries for international competitions including the International Bach Competition in Leipzig.
