About
Hatchet are a San Francisco thrash band that has been going since 2005, with guitarist and vocalist Julz Ramos as the one original member still holding it together. They came up during the thrash revival of the late 2000s, drawing on 1980s Bay Area thrash and the new wave of British heavy metal. Their debut Awaiting Evil landed on Metal Blade in 2008, after some early demos and shows opening for Possessed got people talking. The real grind came later. Dawn of the End (2013) led to a run of reportedly more than 200 shows, and their first video, Signals of Infection. Fear Beyond Lunacy followed in 2015, with Blabbermouth comparing it to Testament, Death Angel and Exodus. Dying to Exist (2018) became their first album to chart in the US, peaking at number 23 on Billboard's Top Heatseekers. Most recently they put out the EP Leave No Soul.
