Founded in Houston in 1982, Helstar didn't take long to carve out a serious reputation in the American heavy metal scene. The band, fronted by James Rivera and driven by the guitar work of Larry Barragán, plays a sharp, thrash tinged brand of US heavy metal that feels uncompromising from start to finish. Across 12 albums they've built a catalogue packed with heavy hitters, including tracks like Burning Star, Pandemonium, Run With The Pack, The King Is Dead and Evil Reign. That kind of output places them firmly among the enduring names in power and speed metal.
