About
Het Kofferbak Collectief makes small scale music theatre that punches well above its weight. The concept is elegantly simple: one trunk full of gear is all they need to transform any location into an opera stage. Their work is sung in Dutch and built on strong musical foundations, with a theatrical style that is deliberately grotesque and comic, staging big questions in a light and accessible way. De Vegetarische Jachtcantate is a prime example of their approach. It follows a group of hunters gathering in a country house for a group therapy session, forced to grieve the loss of their traditions in a society that has moved on without them. Musically it draws loosely from Bach's Hunting Cantata BWV 208 and other baroque repertoire. For this production the collective collaborated with Opera2day, with soprano Klaartje van Veldhoven, baritone Mattijs van de Woerd and tenor Roman Brasser among the performers.
