High Contrast, the stage name of Welsh producer Lincoln Barrett, has spent over two decades shaping the sound of liquid funk and drum and bass into something that crosses over without selling out. His 2009 compilation Confidential went gold in the UK, and it featured some of his most beloved remixes, including takes on Adele's "Hometown Glory" and Eric Prydz's "Pjanoo". He also played a central role in curating and producing the music for the Athletes Parade at the 2012 Summer Olympics opening ceremony, with several of his tracks ending up on the official soundtrack Isles of Wonder. His third album Tough Guys Don't Dance produced the single "If We Ever", which hit number one in both the drum and bass and dance charts. More recently, his remix of Jorja Smith's "The One" earned a Grammy nomination at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards. Barrett keeps busy on the production side too, releasing Notes from the Underground in 2020 and the album Restoration in 2024.
