About
Also known as: DJ Hixxy
Few tracks reshaped UK rave culture quite like 'Toy Town', the 1995 collaboration between Hixxy and DJ Sharkey that blended scruffy breaks with sugar sweet vocals and cracked open a whole new chapter in hardcore history. That single's impact was big enough to kickstart the Bonkers compilation series, which ran to 19 volumes and is widely credited with signalling a new era in UK rave music, with Hixxy as a regular mixing presence throughout. Over the years his sound shifted toward a harder, faster take on trance without losing that hardcore edge, and in 2004 he launched the Hardcore Till I Die brand through his Raver Baby label. That same year John Peel invited him onto BBC Radio 1 for a mix session, later released on CD. He then teamed up with Darren Styles to launch the Clubland X Treme Hardcore series, another milestone for the scene. He keeps performing regularly alongside fellow hardcore figures like DJ Dougal at events such as the Bang Face Weekender.
