About
Hot Eddy's is the project of Jef Hofmeister, who writes the songs, plays guitar and handles lead vocals. Backed by his band the Blue Mondays, the outfit weaves together Indo rock and levenslied, a combination that draws on Indonesian Dutch musical traditions and the Dutch popular song form. The lineup is full and varied: Chris Koenen on guitar, Paul Hofmeister on bass, Rixt Leddy on vocals and ukulele, Louis Terburg on drums and mandolin, and Robert van der Hoop covering wurlitzer, accordion and vocals. The material is personal and sometimes pointed. Hofmeister uses the show to revisit his own youth through an Indo lens, mixing warmth and humour with questions he describes as ones he never previously dared to ask. That blend of reflection and musical eclecticism, with instruments ranging from pedal steel guitar to accordion, gives Hot Eddy's a character that sits well outside straightforward rock or folk categories.
