About
Huib Emmer is a Dutch composer who also plays electric guitar and electric bass guitar, and his work has moved steadily between ensemble playing and electronic media. For a decade, from 1976 to 1986, he was a member of Hoketus, the Dutch minimal ensemble, and since 1988 he has performed with the ensemble LOOS. In 1984 he played at the Claxon Sound Festival for improvised music in the Netherlands. He was also part of The Best of the Claxon Festival, made for VPRO television, fronting his own quintet Skid alongside Willem van der Ham and Peter van Bergen on sax, Gerard Bouwhuis on keyboard and Hans van der Meer on drums. Since 1992 he has composed for electronic media, often pairing the music with projected video or film, which fits neatly with his electroacoustic and musique concrète leanings.
