Chicago's I:Scintilla built their reputation on a muscular blend of industrial metal and dark electro, anchored by Brittany Bindrim's vocals and Jim Cookas's guitar work. Signed to Belgian label Alfa Matrix after relentless touring, they broke through with the album Optics in 2007, which hit number six on the Deutsche Alternative Charts and came loaded with remixes from the likes of Combichrist and Clan of Xymox. Their sound has never sat still: the Marrow EPs from 2012 and 2013 saw them strip things back to an acoustic register before swinging back to their harder electronic roots. After nearly eight years between full length records, they returned with Swayed in 2018, and have kept releasing material independently since, including singles and EPs in 2021 and 2022.
